Visit from Bradford on Avon Sailing Club

Wimbleball SC welcomed 6 visiting boats from Bradford on Avon SC over the August bank holiday weekend. The visit coincided with the Sportiva Events Ironman triathlon also being held at the lake - both activities provided an enjoyable weekend of sport. (Not often we get a musical accompaniment to our sailing.)

Despite some very heavy rain showers, 5 club races were held on the Sunday and Monday. A strengthening southerly breeze on Sunday afternoon provided some exhilarating racing. Credit to our Race Team for the excellent organisation. A lunchtime BBQ on Sunday provided welcome refreshment between races. 

Our thanks to Bradford on Avon for making the effort to travel and we look forward to a reciprocal visit in the future - anyone fancy forming a team for the challenge of river sailing?! A hugely enjoyable weekend - many thanks to all our club volunteers for providing their time and good spirits over this extended weekend.

(A note of recognition to the triathletes who competed all weekend. On Sunday the ironman swim started at 6.30am and the final competitors finished the marathon leg approaching midnight in very heavy rain - kudos!)
