2023/24 Prizegiving

Published 4:58pm on 6 Mar 2025

The club prizegiving was held on February 28th at The Cosy Club in Taunton. Many thanks to Dave Stockton for making the arrangements and to everyone who attended. It was an enjoyable evening as we celebrated some awards being presented and had a good natter!

We also recognised the importance of the volunteering effort to keep the club running and expressed our gratitude to all involved.

With the endless opportunities available to families these days, it was emphasised that we all needed to encourage and nurture newcomers to the club, hopefully resulting in a lifetime passion for sailing.

In addition to the sailing awards, some club awards were presented by the Commodore for non-sailing contributions:

- Gary Jackson was announced as the recipient of the Club Person Award. This was in recognition of the significant effort to implement Sailing Club Manager, our new website.

- Dave and Heather Stockton were awarded the Unsung Hero Award in recognition of their efforts behind the scenes in club maintenance, specifically for helping to paint the clubhouse, repairing club training boats and re-organising the layout of the changing rooms.

- Finally, a special Achievement Award was presented to Colin Allen for many years of contributions to the club. Colin has served on the Committee in various roles and continues to support the club's activities despite no longer sailing.

A full list of sailing awards can be found in the attachment.
